Cotton on hand in consuming establishments at the end of December was 648,608 bales, and the total in public storage and in compresses was 11,846,800 bales. Active consuming cotton spindles totaled 2,913,000, and the quantity of domestic cotton exported, excluding linters, was 773,800 bales.
