HDR2012000170170324951500CTN: NARRATIVE There were 8,600 bales from the 1994 crop which ginners estimated would be ginned after the March survey, compared to none last year, and 30,350 bales for the 1992 crop. The number of active cotton gins for crop year 1994 was 1,306, compared to 1,364 in 1993, and 1,389 for the 1992 crop year. Bureau of the Census Cotton Information Cotton consumed during the month ending January 31, 1995, amounted to 843,135 bales. Cotton on hand in consuming establishments at the end of January was 628,668 bales, and the total in public storage and in compresses was 10,134,328 bales. Active consuming cotton spindles totaled 2,948,000, and the quantity of domestic cotton exported, excluding linters, was 900,500 bales.
