Ct Gn 1 (10-95) Bureau of the Census Cotton Information Cotton consumed during the month ending August 31, 1995, amounted to 831,397 bales. Cotton on hand in consuming establishments at the end of August was 624,783 bales, and the total in public storage and compresses was 1,202,572 bales. Active consuming cotton spindles totaled 2,777,000, and the quantity of domestic cotton exported, excluding linters, was 251,100 bales.
