Cotton consumed during the month ending November 30, 1996, amounted to 816,704 bales. Cotton on hand in consuming establishments at the end of November was 559,339 bales, and the total in public storage and in compresses was 10,198,316 bales. Active consuming cotton spindles totaled 2,584,000, and the quantity of domestic cotton exported, excluding linters, was 440,600 bales.
