September 1 Hop Stocks Up 5 Percent The inventory of hops held by growers, dealers, and brewers on September 1, 1996, totaled 58.7 million pounds, up 5 percent from 1995 but 28 percent below March 1, 1996. Brewers held over 80 percent of the total September 1, 1996 stocks. Stocks held by brewers, at 47.0 million pounds, rose 10 percent from last year but fell 16 percent from the March 1, 1996 stocks. Stocks held by growers and dealers on September 1, 1996 fell 11 percent from 1995, to 11.7 million pounds, less than half of the March 1, 1996 inventory.
