September 1 Stocks Inventory Up 6 Percent The inventory of hops held by growers, dealers, and brewers on September 1, 1997, totaled 62.0 million pounds, 6 percent above September 1, 1996 and 11 percent above two years ago. Stocks held by brewers, at 44.5 million pounds, fell 5 percent from last year but were 4 percent above September 1, 1995. Stocks held by growers and dealers on September 1, 1997 rose 50 percent from the same period last year to 17.5 million pounds.
