September 1 Hop Stocks Lowest Level Since 1982 The inventory of hops held by growers, dealers, and brewers on September 1, 2000, totaled 48.0 million pounds, 11 percent below September 1, 1999 and 13 percent below two years ago. This represents the lowest September 1 inventory since 1982 when stocks were 47.0 million pounds. Stocks held by brewers, at 37.5 million pounds, were 5 percent less than last year and 9 percent less than September 1, 1998. Stocks held by growers and dealers on September 1, 2000, were 10.5 million pounds, down 28 percent from the stocks on hand for September 1, 1999, and 25 percent less than the September 1, 1998 level.
