March 1 Hop Stocks Up 24 Percent From Last Year The inventory of hops held by growers, dealers, and brewers on March 1, 2009, totaled 82.0 million pounds, 24 percent above March 1, 2008, and 17 percent above March 1, 2007. March hop stocks have not been this high since March 1, 2004 when holdings were 85.0 million pounds. Stocks held by brewers, at 40.0 million pounds, were up 11 percent from a year ago, but 5 percent less than March 1, 2007. Stocks held by growers and dealers on March 1, 2009, totaled 42.0 million pounds, 40 percent more than March 1, 2008, and 50 percent above March 1, 2007.
