HDR1012000110060126951500PEANUT STOCKS AND PROCESSING HDR2012000110060126951500PNUT STKS HIGHLIGHTS Released January 26, 1995, by the Agricultural Statistics Board. Stocks estimates refer to December 31, 1994; all other data are for the month of December. Peanut Stocks Up 8 Percent From Last Year Peanut stocks in commercial storage totaled 3.19 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 2.95 billion pounds last year. This total includes 2.28 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 851 million pounds of equivalent farmer stock. Roasting stock totaled 57.4 million pounds. There were 579 million pounds of Commodity Credit Corporation uncommitted stocks on hand as of December 31, 1994. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 640 million pounds of which 621 million pounds were edible grades and 19.3 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type were: Virginias, 146 million pounds; Runners, 440 million pounds; and Spanish, 34.8 million pounds. December millings totaled 296 million pounds. Millings by type were 84.0 mil- lion pounds of Virginias, 196 million pounds of Runners, and 16.5 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 125 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during December. Utilization for all peanut butter products was 61.4 million pounds, utilization for peanut candy was 33.7 million pounds, and utilization for snack peanuts was 26.6 million pounds. Crushing for oil, cake, and meal totaled 55.4 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2,962,656 pounds of peanut butter and 254,772 pounds of roasted peanuts during December. There were no deliveries of peanut granules during the month. Stocks of treated seed on hand December 31 totaled 395,000 pounds, compared with 381,000 pounds on November 30, 1994. Of the December total, 330,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 60,000 pounds were Runners, and 5,000 pounds were Spanish. November stocks of treated seed included 315,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 61,000 pounds of Runners, and 5,000 pounds of Spanish. For information call Kirby Cavett at (202) 720-8843. These reports are usually based on a complete enumeration of all shellers and crushers and all of the larger processors of raw peanuts. However, reports are occasionally received too late to be included in the first tabulation. Allowances are made for these missing reports and revised totals are published in the next report. 1/ Excludes stocks on farms. Includes stocks owned by or held for account of CCC in commercial storages.
