HDR1012000110060526951500PEANUT STOCKS AND PROCESSING HDR2012000110060526951500PNUT STKS&PRCSNG HIGHLIGHTS Released May 26, 1995, by the Agricultural Statistics Board. Stocks estimates refer to April 30, 1995; all other data are for the month of April. Peanut Stocks Up 35 Percent From Last Year Peanut stocks in commercial storage totaled 2.42 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 1.80 billion pounds last year. This total includes 1.27 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 1.05 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock. Roasting stock totaled 97.6 million pounds. There were 36.4 million pounds of Commodity Credit Corporation uncommitted stocks on hand as of April 30, 1995. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 792 million pounds of which 772 million pounds were edible grades and 20.2 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type were: Virginias, 199 million pounds; Runners, 528 million pounds; and Spanish, 44.4 million pounds. April millings totaled 308 million pounds. Millings by type were 81.8 million pounds of Virginias, 219 million pounds of Runners, and 6.91 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 102 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during April. Utilization for all peanut butter products was 53.9 million pounds, utilization for peanut candy was 25.4 million pounds, and utilization for snack peanuts was 20.1 million pounds. Crushing for oil, cake, and meal totaled 84.6 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2,094,911 pounds of peanut butter and 90,720 pounds of roasted peanuts during April. There were no deliveries of peanut granules during the month. Stocks of treated seed on hand April 30 totaled 24.5 million pounds, compared with 18.4 million pounds on March 31, 1995. Of the April total, 7.42 million pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 16.2 million pounds were Runners, and 890,000 pounds were Spanish. March stocks of treated seed included 6.35 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 11.9 million pounds of Runners, and 223,000 pounds of Spanish.
