HDR1012000110060727951500Peanut Stocks and Processing HDR2012000110060727951500Peanut Stocks and Processing Narrative Released July 27, 1995, by the Agricultural Statistics Board. Stocks estimates refer to June 30, 1995; all other data are for the month of June. Peanut Stocks Up 5 Percent From Last Year Peanut stocks in commercial storage totaled 1.30 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 1.24 billion pounds last year. This total includes 150 million pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 1.07 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock. Roasting stock totaled 84.8 million pounds. There were no Commodity Credit Corporation uncommitted stocks on hand as of June 30, 1995. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 804 million pounds of which 761 million pounds were edible grades and 42.9 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type were: Virginias, 194 million pounds; Runners, 521 million pounds; and Spanish, 45.8 million pounds. June millings totaled 226 million pounds. Millings by type were 36.7 million pounds of Virginias, 163 million pounds of Runners, and 26.5 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 114 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during June. Utilization for all peanut butter products was 54.5 million pounds, utilization for peanut candy was 31.1 million pounds, and utilization for snack peanuts was 25.9 million pounds. Crushing for oil, cake, and meal totaled 67.2 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2,175,455 pounds of peanut butter and 92,322 pounds of roasted peanuts during June. There were no deliveries of peanut granules during the month. Stocks of treated seed on hand June 30 totaled 1.56 million pounds, compared with 7.10 million pounds on May 31, 1995. Of the June total, 180,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 419,000 pounds were Runners, and 959,000 pounds were Spanish. These reports are usually based on a complete enumeration of all shellers and crushers and all of the larger processors of raw peanuts. However, reports are occasionally received too late to be included in the first tabulation.
