Peanut Stocks Down 12 Percent From Last Year Peanut stocks in commercial storage totaled 1.23 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 1.39 billion pounds last year. This total includes 134 million pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 1.04 billion pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 59.9 million pounds. There were no Commodity Credit Corporation uncommitted stocks on hand as of July 31, 2000. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 779 million pounds of which 708 million pounds were edible grades and 70.4 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type were 108 million pounds of Virginias, 573 million pounds of Runners, and 27.2 million pounds of Spanish. June millings totaled 211 million pounds. Millings by type were 11.9 million pounds of Virginias, 198 million pounds of Runners, and 1.02 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 124 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during July. Utilization by type were 58.8 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 32.2 million pounds for peanut candy, and 30.7 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 50.6 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2.59 million pounds of peanut butter and 176,094 pounds of roasted peanuts during June. There were no deliveries of peanut granules during the month. Stocks of treated seed on hand July 30, totaled 302,000 pounds, compared with 416,000 pounds on June 30, 2000. Of the July total, 223,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 77,000 pounds were Runners, and 2,000 pounds were Spanish. June stocks of treated seed included 194,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 170,000 pounds were Runners, and 52,000 million pounds were Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to July 30, 2000 all other data are for the month of July. Table 1.
