Peanut Stocks Down 44 Percent From Last Year Peanut stocks in commercial storage totaled 1.03 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 1.83 billion pounds last year. This total includes 405 million pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 599 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 26.5 million pounds. There were 19.9 million pounds of Commodity Credit Corporation uncommitted stocks on hand as of September 30, 2000. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 450 million pounds of which 407 million pounds were edible grades and 42.9 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type were 54.1 million pounds of Virginias, 325 million pounds of Runners, and 28.4 million pounds of Spanish. September millings totaled 81.8 million pounds. Millings by type were 17.7 million pounds of Virginias, 52.0 million pounds of Runners, and 12.1 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 127 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during September. Utilization by type were 58.2 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 31.8 million pounds for peanut candy, and 34.9 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 31.9 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2.30 million pounds of peanut butter and 13,158 pounds of roasted peanuts during September. There were no deliveries of peanut granules during the month. Stocks of treated seed on hand September 30, totaled 302,000 pounds, compared with 300,000 pounds on August 31, 2000. Of the September total, 224,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 76,000 pounds were Runners, and 2,000 pounds were Spanish. August stocks of treated seed included 220,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 78,000 pounds were Runners, and 2,000 pounds were Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to September 30, 2000 all other data are for the month of September. Table 1.
