Peanut Stocks Down 10 Percent from Last Year Peanut stocks in commercial storage totaled 1.12 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 1.23 billion pounds last year. This total includes 117 million pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 960 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 38.3 million pounds. There were no Commodity Credit Corporation uncommitted stocks on hand as of July 31, 2001. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 722 million pounds of which 708 million pounds were edible grades and 14.5 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type were 145 million pounds of Virginias, 529 million pounds of Runners, and 32.6 million pounds of Spanish. July millings totaled 103 million pounds. Millings by type were 3.96 million pounds of Virginias, 98.6 million pounds of Runners, and 378,000 pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 124 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during July. Utilization by type were 62.0 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 31.8 million pounds for peanut candy, and 28.2 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 33.8 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 3.54 million pounds of peanut butter and 81,576 pounds of roasted peanuts during July. Stocks of treated seed on hand July 31, totaled 189,000 pounds, compared with 351,000 pounds on June 30, 2001. Of the July total, 159,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 25,000 pounds were Runners, and 5,000 pounds were Spanish. June stocks of treated seed included 182,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 138,000 pounds were Runners, and 31,000 pounds were Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to July 31, 2001.
