Peanut Stocks Up 40 Percent from Last Year Peanut stocks in commercial storage totaled 4.26 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 3.04 billion pounds last year. This total includes 3.44 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 772 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 47.4 million pounds. There were 806 million pounds of Commodity Credit Corporation uncommitted stocks on hand as of November 30, 2001. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 581 million pounds of which 562 million pounds were edible grades and 18.6 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type were 111 million pounds of Virginias, 421 million pounds of Runners, and 30.5 million pounds of Spanish. November millings totaled 353 million pounds. Millings by type were 99.3 million pounds of Virginias, 244 million pounds of Runners, and 9.26 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 117 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during November. Utilization by type were 67.0 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 25.4 million pounds for peanut candy, and 23.1 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 30.1 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2.30 million pounds of peanut butter and 123,444 pounds of roasted peanuts during November. Stocks of treated seed on hand November 30, totaled 180,000 pounds, compared with 182,000 pounds on October 31, 2001. Of the November total, 153,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 23,000 pounds were Runners, and 4,000 pounds were Spanish. October stocks of treated seed included 154,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 24,000 pounds were Runners, and 4,000 pounds were Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to November 30, 2001.
