Peanut Stocks Up Less Than 1 Percent from Last Year Peanut stocks in commercial storage on November 30, 2003 totaled 2.37 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 2.36 billion pounds last year. This total includes 1.88 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 457 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 36.5 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 344 million pounds of which 332 million pounds were edible grades and 11.5 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 56.3 million pounds of Virginias, 259 million pounds of Runners, and 16.7 million pounds of Spanish. November millings totaled 365 million pounds. Millings by type were 67.9 million pounds of Virginias, 280 million pounds of Runners, and 16.5 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 135 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during November. Utilization by type was 71.3 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 28.5 million pounds for peanut candy, and 34.0 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 46.9 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2.06 million pounds of peanut butter and 102,384 pounds of roasted peanuts during November. Stocks of treated seed on hand November 30, 2003 totaled 396,000 pounds, compared with 396,000 pounds on October 31, 2003. Of the November total, 134,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, and 260,000 pounds were Runners. October stocks of treated seed included 134,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, and 260,000 pounds of Runners. Stocks estimates refer to November 30, 2003.
