Peanut Stocks Up 5 Percent from Last Year Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on November 30, 2004 totaled 2.54 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 2.41 billion pounds last year. This total includes 1.93 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 572 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 36.7 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 430 million pounds of which 411 million pounds were edible grades and 19.3 million pounds were oil stock. Edible grade stocks by type included 69.6 million pounds of Virginias, 326 million pounds of Runners, and 15.0 million pounds of Spanish. November millings totaled 362 million pounds. Millings by type were 82.5 million pounds of Virginias, 264 million pounds of Runners, and 16.0 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 152 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during November. Utilization by type was 82.0 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 27.6 million pounds for peanut candy, and 41.2 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 27.0 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 1.97 million pounds of peanut butter and 101,088 pounds of roasted peanuts during November. Stocks of treated seed on hand November 30, 2004 totaled 302,000 pounds, compared with 302,000 pounds on October 31, 2004. Of the November total, 105,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 164,000 pounds were Runners, and 33,000 pounds were Spanish. October stocks of treated seed included 105,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 164,000 pounds of Runners, and 33,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to November 30, 2004.
