Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization up 7 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 1.66 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on June 30, 2005 totaled 1.66 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 1.41 billion pounds last year. This total includes 780 million pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 796 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 85.2 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 599 million pounds of which 584 million pounds were edible grades and 15.0 million pounds were oil stock. Edible grade stocks by type included 135 million pounds of Virginias, 427 million pounds of Runners, and 22.3 million pounds of Spanish. June millings totaled 215 million pounds. Millings by type were 51.4 million pounds of Virginias, 164 million pounds of Runners, and 70.0 thousand pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 158 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during June. Utilization by type was 82.4 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 33.1 million pounds for peanut candy, and 40.1 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 31.0 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 1.78 million pounds of peanut butter and 66,528 pounds of roasted peanuts during June. Stocks of treated seed on hand June 30, 2005 totaled 1.99 million pounds, compared with 15.0 million pounds on May 31, 2005. Of the June total, 338 thousand pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 1.60 million pounds were Runners, and 44 thousand pounds were Spanish. May stocks of treated seed included 1.66 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 12.7 million pounds of Runners, and 557 thousand pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to June 30, 2005.
