Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization up 6 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 1.42 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on July 31, 2005 totaled 1.42 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 1.12 billion pounds last year. This total includes 677 million pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 673 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 69.9 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 506 million pounds of which 490 million pounds were edible grades and 15.4 million pounds were oil stock. Edible grade stocks by type included 122 million pounds of Virginias, 349 million pounds of Runners, and 19.3 million pounds of Spanish. July millings totaled 147 million pounds. Millings by type were 25.2 million pounds of Virginias, 120 million pounds of Runners, and 2.40 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 148 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during July. Utilization by type was 75.4 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 37.5 million pounds for peanut candy, and 33.7 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 19.3 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 5.44 million pounds of peanut butter and 240,624 pounds of roasted peanuts during July. Stocks of treated seed on hand July 31, 2005 totaled 300,000 pounds, compared with 1.64 million pounds on June 30, 2005. Of the July total, 140,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 144,000 pounds were Runners, and 16,000 pounds were Spanish. June stocks of treated seed included 338,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 1.29 million pounds of Runners, and 18,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to July 31, 2005.
