Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization up 2 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 2.04 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on September 30, 2005 totaled 2.04 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 1.09 billion pounds last year. This total includes 1.46 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 533 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 47.4 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 401 million pounds of which 385 million pounds were edible grades and 15.6 million pounds were oil stock. Edible grade stocks by type included 101 million pounds of Virginias, 273 million pounds of Runners, and 10.7 million pounds of Spanish. September millings totaled 251 million pounds. Millings by type were 43.6 million pounds of Virginias and 208 million pounds of Runners. Commercial processors utilized 162 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during September. Utilization by type was 83.5 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 34.6 million pounds for peanut candy, and 42.4 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 23.1 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2.86 million pounds of peanut butter and 136,944 pounds of roasted peanuts during September. Stocks of treated seed on hand September 30, 2005 totaled 259,000 pounds, compared with 264,000 pounds on August 31, 2005. Of the September total, 131,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 114,000 pounds were Runners, and 14,000 pounds were Spanish. August stocks of treated seed included 131,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 118,000 pounds of Runners, and 15,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to September 30, 2005.
