Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization up 1 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 3.47 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on October 31, 2005 totaled 3.47 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 2.96 billion pounds last year. This total includes 2.87 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 546 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 47.6 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 410 million pounds of which 393 million pounds were edible grades and 17.8 million pounds were oil stock. Edible grade stocks by type included 98.9 million pounds of Virginias, 275 million pounds of Runners, and 18.2 million pounds of Spanish. October millings totaled 311 million pounds. Millings by type were 50.1 million pounds of Virginias, 247 million pounds of Runners, and 13.3 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 164 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during October. Utilization by type was 89.5 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 31.1 million pounds for peanut candy, and 42.5 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 33.6 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 3.79 million pounds of peanut butter and 69,120 pounds of roasted peanuts during October. Stocks of treated seed on hand October 31, 2005 totaled 250,000 pounds, compared with 259,000 pounds on September 30, 2005. Of the October total, 122,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 114,000 pounds were Runners, and 14,000 pounds were Spanish. September stocks of treated seed included 131,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 114,000 pounds of Runners, and 14,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to October 31, 2005.
