Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Down 1 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 3.19 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on April 30, 2006 totaled 3.19 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 2.29 billion pounds last year. This total includes 2.29 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 857 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 46.8 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 645 million pounds of which 623 million pounds were edible grades and 22.1 million pounds were oil stock. Edible grade stocks by type included 120 million pounds of Virginias, 471 million pounds of Runners, and 31.2 million pounds of Spanish. April millings totaled 323 million pounds. Millings by type were 55.3 million pounds of Virginias, 258 million pounds of Runners, and 9.37 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 138 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during April. Utilization by type was 75.2 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 27.4 million pounds for peanut candy, and 34.2 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 34.2 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2.01 million pounds of peanut butter during April. Stocks of treated seed on hand April 30, 2006 totaled 33.1 million pounds, compared with 21.4 million pounds on March 31, 2006. Of the April total, 6.16 million pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 26.3 million pounds were Runners, and 656,000 pounds were Spanish. March stocks of treated seed included 2.77 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 18.5 million pounds of Runners, and 142,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to April 30, 2006.
