Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Down Slightly from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 2.46 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on June 30, 2006 totaled 2.46 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 1.66 billion pounds last year. This total includes 1.65 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 740 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 65.7 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 556 million pounds of which 533 million pounds were edible grades and 23.5 million pounds were oil stock. Edible grade stocks by type included 133 million pounds of Virginias, 377 million pounds of Runners, and 22.5 million pounds of Spanish. June millings totaled 315 million pounds. Millings by type were 75.2 million pounds of Virginias, 233 million pounds of Runners, and 6.83 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 159 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during June. Utilization by type was 86.6 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 33.0 million pounds for peanut candy, and 38.4 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 33.3 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 1.32 million pounds of peanut butter and 33,264 pounds of roasted peanuts during June. Stocks of treated seed on hand June 30, 2006 totaled 1.11 million pounds, compared with 7.88 million pounds on May 31, 2006. Of the June total, 379,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 718,000 pounds were Runners, and 8,000 pounds were Spanish. May stocks of treated seed included 1.26 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 6.34 million pounds of Runners, and 282,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to June 30, 2006.
