Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Up 1 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 2.17 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on July 31, 2006 totaled 2.17 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 1.41 billion pounds last year. This total includes 1.40 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 707 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 57.0 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 532 million pounds of which 510 million pounds were edible grades and 21.5 million pounds were oil stock. Edible grade stocks by type included 135 million pounds of Virginias, 347 million pounds of Runners, and 28.7 million pounds of Spanish. July millings totaled 260 million pounds. Millings by type were 48.6 million pounds of Virginias, 201 million pounds of Runners, and 11.0 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 160 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during July. Utilization by type was 87.2 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 36.0 million pounds for peanut candy, and 35.7 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 34.1 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 5.00 million pounds of peanut butter and 268,704 pounds of roasted peanuts during July. Stocks of treated seed on hand July 31, 2006 totaled 736,000 pounds, compared with 1.11 million pounds on June 30, 2006. Of the July total, 337,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 381,000 pounds were Runners, and 18,000 pounds were Spanish. June stocks of treated seed included 379,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 718,000 pounds of Runners, and 8,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to July 31, 2006.
