Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Down 3 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 4.12 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on November 30, 2006 totaled 4.12 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 4.48 billion pounds last year. This total includes 3.27 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 808 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 39.9 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 607 million pounds of which 578 million pounds were edible grades and 29.0 million pounds were oil stock. Edible grade stocks by type included 119 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 426 million pounds of Runners, and 32.9 million pounds of Spanish. November millings totaled 303 million pounds. Millings by type were 55.4 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 226 million pounds of Runners, and 21.2 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 143 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during November. Utilization by type was 82.2 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 27.6 million pounds for peanut candy, and 33.1 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 31.7 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2.97 million pounds of peanut butter and 34,560 pounds of roasted peanuts during November. Stocks of treated seed on hand November 30, 2006 totaled 550,000 pounds, compared with 573,000 pounds on October 31, 2006. Of the November total, 262,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 273,000 pounds were Runners, and 15,000 pounds were Spanish. October stocks of treated seed included 264,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 291,000 pounds of Runners, and 18,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to November 30, 2006.
