Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Down 2 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 2.91 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on March 31, 2007 totaled 2.91 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 3.49 billion pounds last year. This total includes 2.04 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 808 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 54.3 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 608 million pounds of which 576 million pounds were edible grades and 32.2 million pounds were oil stock. Edible grade stocks by type included 124 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 415 million pounds of Runners, and 36.6 million pounds of Spanish. March millings totaled 353 million pounds. Millings by type were 54.3 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 283 million pounds of Runners, and 15.0 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 161 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during March. Utilization by type was 88.1 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 35.3 million pounds for peanut candy, and 36.1 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 32.4 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 1.08 million pounds of peanut butter and 67,824 pounds of roasted peanuts during March. Stocks of treated seed on hand March 31, 2007 totaled 16.6 million pounds, compared with 2.48 million pounds on February 28, 2007. Of the March total, 4.09 million pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 12.2 million pounds were Runners, and 239,000 pounds were Spanish. February stocks of treated seed included 994,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 1.29 million pounds of Runners, and 196,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to March 31, 2007.
