Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Down 1 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 2.60 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on April 30, 2007 totaled 2.60 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 3.18 billion pounds last year. This total includes 1.72 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 829 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 45.5 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 623 million pounds of which 594 million pounds were edible grades and 29.5 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 114 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 441 million pounds of Runners, and 38.9 million pounds of Spanish. April millings totaled 338 million pounds. Millings by type were 31.7 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 292 million pounds of Runners, and 14.9 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 157 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during April. Utilization by type was 88.3 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 33.5 million pounds for peanut candy, and 34.4 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 36.4 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 3.08 million pounds of peanut butter and 33,264 pounds of roasted peanuts during April. Stocks of treated seed on hand April 30, 2007 totaled 31.5 million pounds, compared with 16.6 million pounds on March 31, 2007. Of the April total, 7.41 million pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 23.6 million pounds were Runners, and 500,000 pounds were Spanish. March stocks of treated seed included 4.09 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 12.2 million pounds of Runners, and 239,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to April 30, 2007.
