Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Down 1 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 1.89 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on June 30, 2007 totaled 1.89 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 2.46 billion pounds last year. This total includes 1.08 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 769 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 48.3 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 578 million pounds of which 542 million pounds were edible grades and 36.3 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 106 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 397 million pounds of Runners, and 38.9 million pounds of Spanish. June millings totaled 301 million pounds. Millings by type were 46.3 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 238 million pounds of Runners, and 16.8 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 161 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during June. Utilization by type was 85.1 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 35.1 million pounds for peanut candy, and 39.3 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 34.3 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 1.04 million pounds of peanut butter during June. Stocks of treated seed on hand June 30, 2007 totaled 1.02 million pounds, compared with 10.8 million pounds on May 31, 2007. Of the June total, 342,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 610,000 pounds were Runners, and 70,000 pounds were Spanish. May stocks of treated seed included 1.30 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 8.89 million pounds of Runners, and 608,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to June 30, 2007.
