Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Down 1 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 1.52 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on July 31, 2007 totaled 1.52 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 2.17 billion pounds last year. This total includes 730 million pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 748 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 42.1 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 562 million pounds of which 529 million pounds were edible grades and 33.4 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 90.4 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 392 million pounds of Runners, and 46.4 million pounds of Spanish. July millings totaled 281 million pounds. Millings by type were 40.5 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 228 million pounds of Runners, and 12.4 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 143 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during July. Utilization by type was 80.0 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 32.6 million pounds for peanut candy, and 29.6 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 31.1 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 6.22 million pounds of peanut butter and 103,680 pounds of roasted peanuts during July. Stocks of treated seed on hand July 31, 2007 totaled 650,000 pounds, compared with 1.02 million pounds on June 30, 2007. Of the July total, 264,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 338,000 pounds were Runners, and 48,000 pounds were Spanish. June stocks of treated seed included 342,000 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 610,000 pounds of Runners, and 70,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to July 31, 2007.
