Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Down 6 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 2.69 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on October 31, 2007 totaled 2.69 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 3.20 billion pounds last year. This total includes 2.12 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 539 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 32.0 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 405 million pounds of which 378 million pounds were edible grades and 26.6 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 72.7 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 275 million pounds of Runners, and 30.6 million pounds of Spanish. October millings totaled 269 million pounds. Millings by type were 46.1 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 217 million pounds of Runners, and 6.03 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 154 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during October. Utilization by type was 86.8 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 27.2 million pounds for peanut candy, and 38.9 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 37.8 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 3.67 million pounds of peanut butter and 103,680 pounds of roasted peanuts during October. Stocks of treated seed on hand October 31, 2007 totaled 419,000 pounds, compared with 465,000 pounds on September 30, 2007. Of the October total, 191,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 179,000 pounds were Runners, and 49,000 pounds were Spanish. September stocks of treated seed included 195,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 220,000 pounds of Runners, and 50,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to October 31, 2007.
