Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Up 4 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 3.99 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on November 30, 2009 totaled 3.99 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 4.30 billion pounds a year ago. This total includes 3.15 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 789 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 52.7 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 593 million pounds of which 573 million pounds were edible grades and 19.9 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 127 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 431 million pounds of Runners, and 15.8 million pounds of Spanish. November millings totaled 299 million pounds. Millings by type were 70.0 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 222 million pounds of Runners, and 7.21 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 143 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during November. Utilization by type was 90.7 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 23.1 million pounds for peanut candy, and 28.0 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 30.9 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 3.85 million pounds of peanut butter and 69,120 pounds of roasted peanuts during November. Stocks of treated seed on hand November 30, 2009 totaled 601,000 pounds, compared with 611,000 pounds on October 31, 2009. Of the November total, 393,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 157,000 pounds were Runners, and 51,000 pounds were Spanish. October stocks of treated seed included 403,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 157,000 pounds of Runners, and 51,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to November 30, 2009.
