Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Up 4 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 2.16 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on June 30, 2010 totaled 2.16 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 2.45 billion pounds a year ago. This total includes 1.29 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 821 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 49.9 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 617 million pounds of which 580 million pounds were edible grades and 36.9 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 123 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 433 million pounds of Runners, and 24.0 million pounds of Spanish. June millings totaled 317 million pounds. Millings by type were 53.4 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 255 million pounds of Runners, and 8.55 million pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 168 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during June. Utilization by type was 101 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 27.0 million pounds for peanut candy, and 37.8 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 15.9 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 2.59 million pounds of peanut butter and 25,920 pounds of roasted peanuts during June. Stocks of treated seed on hand June 30, 2010 totaled 774,000 pounds, compared with 14.1 million pounds on May 31, 2010. Of the June total, 390,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 304,000 pounds were Runners, and 80,000 pounds were Spanish. May stocks of treated seed included 3.73 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 9.84 million pounds of Runners, and 530,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to June 30, 2010.
