Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Up 4 Percent from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 1.83 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on July 31, 2010 totaled 1.83 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 2.13 billion pounds a year ago. This total includes 991 million pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 784 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 52.9 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 590 million pounds of which 554 million pounds were edible grades and 35.5 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 129 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 405 million pounds of Runners, and 20.3 million pounds of Spanish. July millings totaled 292 million pounds. Millings by type were 60.9 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 231 million pounds of Runners, and 872,000 pounds of Spanish. Commercial processors utilized 170 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during July. Utilization by type was 106 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 28.7 million pounds for peanut candy, and 33.7 million pounds for snack peanuts. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 27.5 million pounds during the month. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 3.96 million pounds of peanut butter and 86,400 pounds of roasted peanuts during July. Stocks of treated seed on hand July 31, 2010 totaled 640,000 pounds, compared with 774,000 pounds on June 30, 2010. Of the July total, 451,000 pounds were Virginias and Valencias, 116,000 pounds were Runners, and 73,000 pounds were Spanish. June stocks of treated seed included 390,000 pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 304,000 pounds of Runners, and 80,000 pounds of Spanish. Stocks estimates refer to July 31, 2010.
