Statistical Bulletin Number 984 United States Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service Rice Stocks Final Estimates 1998-2003 March 2004 Rice Stocks: Final Estimates by States, 1998-2003, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Statistics Board, National Agricultural Service, Statistical Bulletin No. 984. Introduction: This bulletin presents final estimates made by the Agricultural Statistics Board (ASB) for the years 1998-2003 of rice stocks on-farm and off-farm for the six major producing States Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas. On-farm and off-farm stocks data were published during calendar years 1998-2003 in periodic ASB reports. Data included in this publication provide an historic record and a benchmark for current estimates. Procedures: Stocks revisions were considered after evaluating ASB production (See Statistical Bulletin 982). The ASB evaluated production, beginning stocks, recorded disappearance, and ending stocks to ensure that all estimates were reasonable when compared with current and historic totals. The 1998-2003 stocks were left unchanged after a full review. The 1998-2003 estimates shown herein are considered final and will not be revised in the future. Historic Estimates: Final estimates of Rice Stocks in earlier years are available in Statistical Bulletins No. 949 for 1993-1998, No. 898 for 1988-1993, No. 795 for 1978-1988, No. 652 for 1975-1979, No. 599 for 1968-1975, and No. 429 for 1942-1946, 1950-1953, and 1956-1967.
