Introduction: This bulletin presents final estimates, including revisions made by the Agricultural Statistics Board (ASB), for the production years 1998 through 2002. The production, disposition, and income from meat animals for 1998-2002 were published during calendar years 1998-2003. Data included in this publication provide a historic record and a benchmark for current estimates. Procedures: Revisions were made after a thorough review of the original survey data and all additional data now available, including the 2002 Census of Agriculture. Other data series considered included slaughter data, shipment records, imports, and exports, and any other available administrative information. The 1998-2002 estimates shown herein are considered final and will not be revised again. At the National level, revisions to estimates of meat animals production and gross income were less than one-half of one percent for cattle and hogs, and was less than 1.5 percent for sheep.
