Combined U.S. Fall Potato and Canadian Potato Production Down 8 Percent From 2007 This publication is the result of a joint effort by Statistics Canada and USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) to publish potato production for both countries in one report. U.S. 2008 fall potato production was released November 10, 2008 and Canadian production and utilization was released November 21, 2008. The 2008 fall potato production for the U.S. and Canada combined is estimated at 478 million cwt, down 8 percent from 2007. The U.S. fall potato production is estimated at 373 million cwt, 8 percent lower than 2007. Canada's potato growers harvested 104 million cwt, down 5 percent from 2007.
